In 1954, borrowing know-how from American Bell Laboratories and the Western Electric Company, Sony produced the first Japanese transistor radio, the TR-55, launched in 1955. Even from its inception, Sony was one of the most innovative companies when it came to combining technology with aesthetics. The Sony Corporation was established in May 1945.
